Grand Knights Message    July 2022

My Brothers,

Looking back at last month’s work, it’s easy to forget how busy the month really was for our Council.

We initiated the Council’s new officers after mass on July 9th. WDD Sylvester Barros conducted the installation proceedings with the assistance of Br. Jim Porter. Following the installation, a get together was enjoyed by all at Howard’s Pizza.

Our early focus was to prepare for and conduct our council’s first ‘in person’ Degree Exemplification. Special thanks to Brothers Randy Gaa, Frank Handwerk , Senan Greene, John Moonan and Jeremie Onsauger, who comprised the new Degree Team for our Council.

The Degree team held a rehearsal several days prior to the scheduled exemplification and prepared for our performance. We knew we were ready to go live with our event.  We initiated two new brother knights: Br. David Horner and Br. Dana Rolon. This ceremony was followed by a delicious dinner which was prepared by Br. Dean Erickson’s (PGK) family. Everyone greatly appreciated the home cooked meal. A good time was shared by all.

A meeting of our Program Chairmen was held to decide on the programs which would be the focus of our Council’s work for this year.  Brothers Sylvester Barros (PGK)(WDD), Membership Director; Randy Gaa, Programs Director; Dean Erickson (PGK), Family Director, John Gort, Life Director, Senan Greene, Life Director and I as Faith Director attended this meeting.

Our goal was to finalize the programs which would be the means to engage our members and achieve the charitable works for our Council. Each program chairman has selected a brand-new program for this year, as well as, continuing many of our successful programs of prior years. We will review the selected programs at our business meeting on August 10th. Please plan on attending this important meeting.

Our months’ work wound to a conclusion with the beginning of our Council’s relocation from Central Avenue to our new home in Classroom # 6 of the Sts. Peter & Paul building of Holy Spirit parish. This will be a major project and will require a large participation to accomplish the move by our mid-August deadline. Please help with this project.

That wrapped up our busy efforts for July. I’m truly grateful to all my brothers who contributed to our accomplishments for this month. May the Lord’s peace be with you always.

Br. Tom Grau, Grand Knight
